Dr. Avani Tashkant Maniar is presently Head of the Department of Extension and Communication, and Associate Director of Fashion Communication Program, Institute of Fashion Design, Faculty of Family and Community Sciences, The M. S. University of Baroda, Vadodara, India. She has 26 years of teaching, research, and extension-related experience in the University set up. She was the Program Coordinator of the course P.G. Diploma in Development Management run by the department for the last 12 years. She is presently coordinating the Master’s Program of the department. She is also a Co-Chair of the Department Research Committee, a member of the Faculty Level Research Committee, and a Member of the Institutional Ethics Committee for Human Research. She is also the chairperson of the Board of Studies, Department of extension and communication. Her major contribution is in the field of ICT in education and development focusing on designing and implementing information technology in the formal and nonformal set–up for bringing quality changes in the lives of the people. The focus of her work is on community Development Programs Using Various Communication Strategies from Traditional to Modern media. Media blending techniques and behavior communication strategies have been incorporated into all her projects to bring change to the communities. Her expertise is in collaborative community development projects for outreach activities for community development work. For the last ten years, she is contributing her work to senior citizens for improving their quality of life.
